Benefits of Hydroponic Gardening

Urban populations have less space for gardening. And some urban soils aren't even that healthy, given more intense air pollution, lead, and other runoff contaminants. Fresh food has more nutrients and well, it just tastes better! And water use is becoming a critical issue in agriculture and even landscaping and gardening.

Hydroponics and aquaponics can be a smart solution for all these challenges. Small, home-scale hydroponics can be accomplished in a small space, it can be highly productive, the water is covered, so little is lost in evaporation, and soilless growing can be separated from contaminated groundwater and problematic or poor garden-quality soil.

This video is a great beginning. It helps you set up a hydroponics system. Next comes actually tending and growing the crops. Learning about which plants work best in hydroponic gardening. And learning how to prepare all that luscious produce from your own garden!
