Urban Agriculture, Urban Farms and Backyard Farming
Urban Farms
I'm fascinated by urban food production and distributed productivity. It all started because I grew up on a small 20 acre organic farm at the outskirts of a small town. But now that I live in Los Angeles... times have changed. But not our need for food.
Sustainable Communities
My work is reporting on sustainable practices, such as distributed energy generation (Solar PV and solar thermal...) and greener practices. What could be more sustainable than local food production, and urban agriculture at a "human scale" that supplies fresh food for one's own family and community?
Urban Agriculture
This section of Backyard Nature will be about urban agriculture...and sustainable backyard productivity that combines organic gardening, aquaculture, selective plant selection, water conservation...and other sustainable practices. Enjoy!
And please, please write me a note about what you have discovered about urban sustainable practices! Together we can make our communities stronger with a nice balance of DIY and community exchange!
