"Every child should have mud pies, grasshoppers, waterbugs, tadpoles, frogs & turtles, elderberries, wild strawberries, acorns, hickory nuts, trees to climb, animals to pet, hayfields, pine cones, rocks to roll, sand, snakes, huckleberries and hornets – and any child who has been deprived of these
has been deprived of the best part of his education."
-Luther Burbank 1849 - 1926

Wildlife Conservation
- Endangered Species Find out the many animals on the U.S. endangered species list.
- Defender of Wildlife Learn about conservation programs, endangered species and reintroduction of wildlife. Defenders of Wildlife is dedicated to the protection of all native wild animals and plants in their natural communities. Programs involve what scientists consider two of the most serious environmental threats to the planet: the accelerating rate of extinction of species and the associated loss of biological diversity, and habitat alteration and destruction. Defenders of Wildlife also advocates new approaches to wildlife conservation that will help keep species from becoming endangered. Our programs encourage protection of entire ecosystems and interconnected habitats while protecting predators that serve as indicator species for ecosystem health.
- Ducks Unlimited Canada Find out how biologists followed the nesting patterns of 10 hens. All summer on-line biologists followed the nesting patterns of 10 very special mallard hens on a 4 sq mile research site in southwestern Manitoba. Here are the field notes, photos, and more.
- Wildlife Population Information This Maryland center covers wildlife population and habitat management. The national data center provides information in many fields of ecology: Breeding Bird Survey Results and Analysis, bird banding, national monitoring strategies and networks, Monitoring biological diversity, migration routes, snake species of the world, procedures for collection, analysis and display of data, and more.

- The Wolf Education and Research Center in Idaho is dedicated to providing public education and scientific research concerning the gray wolf and its habitat in the Northern Rocky Mountains. The Center will provide the public with the rare opportunity to observe and learn more about the wolf in its natural habitat. It is our goal to be an inclusive organization that offers factual and balanced information. We seek to enhance public awareness of threatened species in the region and to develop in concert with residents ways to coexist with these species.
- WolfPark Wolfpark in Battle Ground, Indiana is a wildlife education, research and conservation facility open to the public and home to wolves, foxes, coyote and bison.
- North American Amphibian Monitoring Program The NAAMP is part of a global effort to study and conserve amphibians. Participation of everyone is welcomed, so please read through the pages to learn more and see how you can contribute. Amphibian population data are collected using a calling survey technique, in which observers identify local amphibian species by their unique vocalizations. Not all amphibian species make vocalizations, but many frogs and toads do. Observers are trained to identify their local species by these unique vocalizations or "frog calls."
- Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of orphaned, injured, and displaced wildlife. WRR also provides permanent care for non-indigenous wild animals who have been victimized by the exotic pet trade, rescued from roadside zoos, or retired from research facilities. Indigenous wild animals who, due to severe injuries, have been deemed non-releasable are also given permanent care at our sanctuary.
